Shantaram
There is a truth that is deeper than experience. It is beyond what we
see, or even what we feel. It is an order of truth that separates the
profound from the merely clever, and the reality from the perception. We
are helpless, usually, in the face of it; and the cost of knowing it,
like the cost of knowing love, is sometimes greater than any heart would
willingly pay.

We could spend the rest of our life
saying that we love such a person or thing, when the truth is that we
are merely suffering because, instead of accepting love's strength, we
are trying to diminish it so that it fits the world in which we imagine
we live
